Avnet Integrated today announced the launch of a new software tool for Industrial IoT developers. The general purpose device agent, which runs on Linux and Windows operating systems, provides developers the means to provision, manage, monitor and visualise the performance of the network gateway. The device agent utilizes the Microsoft Azure hosted management suite and provides a transport path to any destination for business critical data.
The solution makes use of the Nebulus™ IoT software gateway developed by Codit, a leading IT services company that provides consultancy, technology and managed services in business integration. Available to purchase as a stand-alone PaaS solution for retrofit to existing deployed hardware, or supplied with Avnet Integrated physical hardware ready for activation, customers will immediately be able to control and manage their edge hardware by means of an intuitive dashboard.
Avnet Integrated also provides optimised custom hardware for customers with specific requirements, and supplementary services for data ingestion via Avnet’s global Microsoft Azure subscription, allowing local regional data rules to be applied to global hardware solutions. Nebulus IoT is based on Microsoft’s validated and approved techniques for data ingestion and security, and offers customers a low-cost way of managing deployed assets and a stepping stone in the building of a complete IoT solution. To further assist customers, Avnet Integrated also offers training and support for Nebulus IoT and separate SaaS offerings for business critical data. These off-the-shelf SaaS offerings range from machine learning and predictive maintenance solutions to complete turn-key SaaS solution development.
Nebulus IoT was developed by Codit to address demand for a cost-effective and efficient cloud-based API management platform based on Microsoft Azure.
“We are very proud to have been selected by Avnet Integrated as its partner in the creation of this device agent that can provision and manage a wide variety of devices in an IoT network,” said Stijn Degrieck, CEO at Codit. “It is a major endorsement of our capabilities and we look forward to co-developing further technological solutions with Avnet Integrated to deliver significant value to its end customers.”
“Managing a wide range of diverse devices is a common customer challenge,” said Alastair Worth, Director of Wireless and Networking and IoT strategy at Avnet Integrated for EMEA. “Our mission to solve this issue resulted in the adoption of the Codit’s Nebulus IoT Gateway in a range of standard Avnet Integrated hardware offerings.”
