Cost-efficient booksize PC for industrial applications

The B1-H110 Box PC is a Mini-ITX board-based system with a sixth-generation Intel® Core™ processor from the desktop or low power desktop series (codenamed Skylake) and H110 Intel® chipset. It offers customers a more cost-effective alternative to the recently introduced BookSize B1-Q170 from MSC Technologies, which supports higher performance capabilities such as the Intel Active Management Technology and RAID functions.

The BookSize product line is designed to bridge performance needs between individual desktop computers and full-scale industrial PCs. The powerful new B1-H110 Box PC has a compact form factor of 330 x 206 x 88 mm. Designed for durability in extreme environmental conditions, the rugged, dust-protected system is capable of operating reliably throughout 365 days of 24/7 continuous operation. Key components of the B1-H110 were carefully specified for both dependability and extended availability to ensure long system lifetime.

The modular Booksize systems are manufactured at MSC Technologies’ own factory in Freiburg, Germany, which specializes in both small- and large-batch manufacturing. This provides the flexibility to quickly and cost-effectively adapt these industrial systems to meet customers’ specific application requirements.

Predictive maintenance support is available for Skylake-based systems via the ReDi 01 remote diagnostic tool, which continually monitors the state of all system-critical operating parameters, providing B1-H110 box PC users with the assurance that potential issues will be detected early, thereby mitigating the risk of system failure. A replaceable fan cartridge also facilitates basic system maintenance.

The BookSize B1-H110 offers on-board DDR4 SDRAM memory, which can be expanded to 32 GB via two SO-DIMM sockets. The industrial interfaces include GbE LAN, USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Serial ATA, HD Audio, and the graphics interfaces DVI-D and 2 x DisplayPort (DP) V1.2. The computer can be equipped with a galvanic ally isolated GPIO and a CAN bus interface. The PCI Express™ x16 slot allows the box PC to be expanded flexibly. In addition, a Mini-PCI Express™ x1 slot is present.
